4 -enquiry o inquiry; enquire o inquire?-
Inquire e inquiry si usano soprattutto, invece, in riferimento a indagini e investigazioni formali: A public inquiry will be held into the cause of the accident, verrà aperta un'inchiesta pubblica sulle cause dell'incidente; A commission was established to inquire into conditions in the prison, fu creata una commissione per indagare sulle condizioni della prigione. Nell'inglese americano si preferisce sempre inquiry in entrambi i contesti.English-Italian dictionary > -enquiry o inquiry; enquire o inquire?-
